Julia Touvannas

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Background: Growing up as a competitive dancer, I always knew I wanted to learn more about how the human body works during exercise. After my experiences as a physical therapy patient and rehab aide, I fell in love with the profession. This led me to Marquette to pursue a major in Exercise Physiology and the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Through my anatomy and physiology courses at Marquette, I found myself especially interested in muscle physiology. I know that developing knowledge of how muscles perform during exercise and throughout the lifespan would help me provide the best care for my future patients. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to begin my experience in the Integrative Muscle Physiology and Energetics Lab in the Fall 2024 semester, and I cannot wait to learn more.

Outside of the Lab: I am involved in Pure Dance Marquette and Alpha Chi Omega sorority. In my free time I love reading, lifting, going to concerts, and exploring Milwaukee with my friends. I spend my school breaks with my family, especially my two nephews.
